![]() This is all that remains of our Company training area in Logan Heights, Ft. Bliss, TX. Every single building has been removed except one. I still recognize the dry creek bed near the top of the picture where we put the white-washed rocks from the walkways and flagpole. The dark rectangle asphalt areas are where we did calisthenics and lots of marching. We often did double-time (the Army version of running) on the narrow streets while in platoon formation. One dark morning, our platoon collided with another platoon at a blind intersection. The resulting dog-pile caused quite a few bruises and abrasions, especially for those who ended up on the bottom of the pile. Both drill sergeants accused the other of not looking where they were going. |
