Looking roughly east at Nui Ba Den (Black Virgin Mountain) from the radar tower at the boot camp in Ben Soi. The top of the mountain is obscured with low clouds. This mountain is legendary for the many fierce battles that took place on it's slopes and around the perimeter. The VC had many tunnels in Nui Ba Den that were virtually impervious to artillery fire. I believe that the U.S. Army had a communications station at the summit for a period of time. (September, 1969) [back]
